The Honorable Eric T. Washington currently serves as a Senior Judge of the District of Columbia Court of Appeals, after having served as Chief Judge of that court from 2005 to 2017. Prior to being designated as Chief Judge, he was an Associate Judge of the District of Columbia Court of Appeals, and before that, he served as a trial judge on the D.C. Superior Court. A past President of the Conference of Chief Justices of the United States, Judge Washington is also a nationally recognized leader on access to justice issues. Before his first judicial appointment, Judge Washington was a partner with the law firm Hogan & Hartson (now Hogan Lovells) and he has also served as the Principal Deputy Corporation Counsel in the Office of Corporation Counsel (now the Office of the D.C. Attorney General). Judge Washington serves on the Board of Directors of the Boys and Girls Clubs of Greater Washington Foundation. He has also served on the Board of Directors of the National Courts and Science Institute, the National Center for State Courts and on several committees of the D.C. Bar.
