John joined Public Welfare Foundation in 2022 as Program Director, overseeing a national portfolio and developing new site-based opportunities.
Prior to joining PWF, John co-founded and led the statewide coalition Louisianans for Prison Alternatives, which passed ten bills to dramatically lower Louisiana’s incarceration rate, extended voting rights to formerly incarcerated people, and ended Louisiana’s non-unanimous jury. Before LPA, he founded the Louisiana Campaign for Equal Justice based out of the Orleans Public Defenders’ Office.
John has worked in education and international development in New York, Argentina, Namibia, Kenya, and Malawi. He holds a master’s degree in International Affairs from The New School University and an undergraduate degree from Miami University.
